Happy Birthday, Superman!

Superman’s official birthday is February 29th, which probably goes some way towards explaining why a character who was an adult in 1938 still looks so young: ageing is caused by birthday cake.

As regular readers of this blog will be aware, I’m a huge fan of the Man of Steel, so here’s a look at some of my favourite Superman-related posts that have appeared on this blog…

Falling for Superman
How many times has Superman saved Lois Lane from death by gravity? I don’t actually know the answer to that, but I do have some fun exploring the concept!

Noncomics: Superman – Last Son of Krypton
There was no novelisation of Superman: The Movie, but we did get this original novel by Elliot S! Maggin, one of Superman’s writers at the time. Looking back… it’s an interesting read.

Oddities: Superman’s Boots
I can’t have been the only kid who used to draw Superman’s boots like this, can I?

Noncomics: Making Superman’s Shield
All you need is a piece of plywood, a jigsaw and a good imagination…

Noncomics: Superman: The Man of Steel – A Which Way Book
You can be the Man of Steel! (Except you can’t, really, but it’s still pretty good fun.)

Superman: The Movie promo card
One of the rarer items in my Superman collection — a fold-out promotional card for Superman: The Movie.

Superman’s 50th Anniversary… Radio Times’ coverage, 30 years on
Five years ago we took a look back thirty years earlier to the Radio Times’ coverage of Superman’s fiftieth anniversary. Add that all up and it comes to… many.

Best Cover EVER: Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man
One of my favourite things in the world as a kid was this amazing crossover comic — and it’s still awesome all these years later!

The Greatest Comic-Book Panel Caption Ever?
They don’t write ’em like this any more. At least, I hope not.
